Softball Game Preview: Tremont Eagles vs. Wheeler Eagles

Tremont hasn't had much luck against Wheeler recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tremont will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Thrasher, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 9-6 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Wheeler came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Cardinals.

Marli Kate Shockley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

At the plate, Wheeler let Aubree James and Marley Garrett run wild. James scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Garrett went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Tremont's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-8. As for Wheeler, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Tremont suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Wheeler in their previous matchup back in March. Can Tremont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
