Preview: Ascend Leadership Aviators vs. Triangle Math & Science Tigers
Ascend Leadership has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Triangle Math & Science Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Thursday, Ascend Leadership had to suffer through a rough 70-2 loss at the hands of Riverside Christian Academy. Ascend Leadership was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-0.
Meanwhile, Triangle Math & Science waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They breezed by Woods Charter at home to the tune of 67-27. Triangle Math & Science has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.
Samrita Sriram and Leanna Nohs were among the main playmakers for Triangle Math & Science as the former scored 22 points along with five steals and the latter scored 23 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Nohs has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Yashitha Vanamala was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Ascend Leadership's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.1 points per game. As for Triangle Math & Science, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
