Preview: Salem Baptist Christian Vikings vs. Statesville Christian Lions
Salem Baptist Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Statesville Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Salem Baptist Christian lost to University Christian at home by a decisive 49-35 margin.
Salem Baptist Christian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Garrett Trinkle, who shot 4-for-9 from deep and dropped a triple-double on 24 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Trinkle is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Lloyd, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Statesville Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Davidson Day, falling 73-25. While losing is never fun, Statesville Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 571st, while Davidson Day is ranked 42nd).
Salem Baptist Christian's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-15. Statesville Christian's record is now 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Salem Baptist Christian against Statesville Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 73-43 victory.
