Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

The Thornton Trojans entered their tilt with the Fort Lupton Bluedevils with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Thornton snuck past Fort Lupton with a 58-52 victory on Saturday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post 12 more assists than your opponent, as Thornton did.

Among those leading the charge was Alex Sandovol, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Danso, who scored eight points.

Despite the loss, Fort Lupton had strong showings from Javon Gonzales, who scored 19 points, and Shane Callahan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Callahan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. William Sibanda was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Thornton's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Fort Lupton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornton and Alameda will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Thornton is ranked 120th). Fort Lupton and Skyview will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Skyview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Saturday.
