Basketball Game Preview: Whitman Wildcats vs. Hornell Red Raiders

The Whitman Wildcats will start their season against the Hornell Red Raiders. Tip off is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hornell will head into Friday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 44-point drubbing they dealt Wayland-Cohocton on Friday. Hornell blew past Wayland-Cohocton 71-27. That looming 71-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Raiders yet this season.

Their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

As for Whitman, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they finished on the right side of .500 (4-2), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year.

Whitman came up short against Hornell when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 68-57. Can Whitman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
