Volleyball Recap: Kosciusko Comes Up Short

After flying high against McAdams on Thursday, Kosciusko came back down to earth. The Whippets took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newton County Cougars on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Whippets of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-2, 25-8.

Newton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Alford led the charge by getting three digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Alford a new career-high. Lexi Addy also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Kosciusko's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Newton County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Kosciusko and Newton County will both be playing East Webster the next time they take the court. The Whippets will head out to face the Wolverines at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
