Basketball Recap: Iola Triumphs

If Prairie View wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Iola, they should've done a better job of containing Cortland Carson. The Iola Mustangs walked away with a 56-44 victory over the Prairie View Buffalos on Thursday thanks in part to Carson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

The win got Iola back to even at 3-3. As for Prairie View, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

When Iola and Prairie View next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Iola will try to stop Santa Fe Trail's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Iola is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Prairie View will try to stop Wellsville's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
