Baseball Game Preview: Rio Americano Raiders vs. Christian Brothers Falcons

For the second straight game, Rio Americano will face off against Christian Brothers. The Raiders will square off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rio Americano 2.4, Christian Brothers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Rio Americano fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Christian Brothers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Raiders' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Carter Dean was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rio Americano saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Gale, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Christian Brothers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Rio Americano, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9.
