Softball Recap: Treasure Coast Takes a Loss

Treasure Coast extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-14 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Vero Beach Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in February.

Treasure Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Callie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Vero Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 7, 2024.

On Vero Beach's side, the result came thanks to Gabrielle Espich's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks.

Looking ahead, Treasure Coast will face off against Lincoln Park Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.06 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vero Beach, they will take on Jensen Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
