Baseball Game Preview: Collins Warriors vs. Marine Leadership Academy Bulldogs

The Collins Warriors will square off against the Marine Leadership Academy Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Collins managed to slip by Phoenix Military the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Warriors lost 18-11 to the Firebirds on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Marine Leadership Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Wells 8-0 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.

Nathan Baez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Baez was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Vargas, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Collins was able to grind out a solid victory over Marine Leadership Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 9-5. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
