Baseball Recap: Marshall Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gabrielino

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). They never let Gabrielino get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. Marshall hasn't had any issues with Gabrielino recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Caleb Thatcher made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Nate Callaway was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ben Muro was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marshall's record is now 7-2-1. As for Gabrielino, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will head out to square off against Pasadena at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marshall is facing Pasadena at the right time seeing as Pasadena is stuck on a six-game losing streak. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up.
