The Cairo-Durham Mustangs will face off against the Germantown Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cairo-Durham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Cairo-Durham got the win against Webutuck by a conclusive 14-4. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly ten runs.
Brody Helmedach looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Cairo-Durham got a massive performance out of Jake Young, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Young a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Walz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Cairo-Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Germantown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-1 to Catskill.
Germantown saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Orozco, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Caleb Hildenbrand also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cairo-Durham's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Germantown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Everything went Cairo-Durham's way against Germantown in their previous matchup back in April, as Cairo-Durham made off with a 13-3 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Clippers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
