Basketball Recap: Jefferson Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Solomon Shirey and Marshall Hopkins

Jefferson Christian Academy lost against Appalachian Christian back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jefferson Christian Academy Cardinals fell to Appalachian Christian 69-63. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Marshall Hopkins and Solomon Shirey. Hopkins went 10-for-16 to rack up 24 points and three steals, while Shirey posted 18 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Shirey's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Lee, who earned four points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Jefferson Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jefferson Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Appalachian Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Jefferson Christian Academy will take on Ballard Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Appalachian Christian, they will challenge Jefferson Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
