Basketball Recap: Colbert County Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Colbert County and Holly Pond squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Colbert County had to settle for second. The contest between them and the Holly Pond Broncos didn't end well, with the Colbert County Indians falling 54-39. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Broncos are ranked 41st).

Colbert County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Joyden Ricks, who posted 17 points. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Jada Taylor was another key player, putting up ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Colbert County and nudges their season record down to 15-12. As for Holly Pond, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-8.

Colbert County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holly Pond, they have already played their next matchup, a 40-37 victory against Phil Campbell on the 11th.
