Baseball Game Preview: Landrum Cardinals vs. Woodruff Wolverines

The Landrum Cardinals will take on the Woodruff Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Landrum's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Blue Ridge hitters got past them. Landrum skirted past Blue Ridge 12-11. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Woodruff entered their tilt with Blacksburg on Monday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats an 11-0 shutout. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Woodruff pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Landrum, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Landrum was able to grind out a solid victory over Woodruff in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-8. Does Landrum have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodruff turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
