Softball Recap: Alleghany Comes Up Short

Alleghany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 14-10 to the Elkin Buckin' Elks. Even if the Trojans couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ava Busic made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Cheyenne Turney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Elkin, they moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, Alleghany and Elkin will both be playing Surry Central the next time they take the field. Elkin will host Surry Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Alleghany will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
