Softball Game Preview: Henry Clay Blue Devils vs. Tates Creek Commodores

The Henry Clay Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Tates Creek Commodores at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Henry Clay has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Henry Clay is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They lost 12-1 to Lafayette.

Meanwhile, Tates Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pike County Central on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-3. The Commodores have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Alexis Sempsrott spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Tates Creek saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Predmore, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Madison Bowman was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Henry Clay's record now sits at 5-9. As for Tates Creek, their record is now 5-13.

Henry Clay beat Tates Creek 13-8 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
