Softball Recap: Community Trojans vs. Madison Panthers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Community). Everything went their way against the Madison Panthers on Thursday as the Community Trojans made off with a 22-6 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Myla Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Carroll was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with an RBI.
In other batting news, Community got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Welch, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Chloe Johnson, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Community, bringing their record for this year to 14-5. As for Madison, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Community will challenge Mark Twain at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Community is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for Madison, they will welcome Paris at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Paris' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Madison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
