Baseball Recap: Aurora Huskies vs. Wayne Blue Devils
Aurora extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 5-12. They lost 9-1 to the Wayne Blue Devils. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Aurora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Carstensen, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Wayne, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.
On Wayne's side, Adrian Contreras was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Contreras has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Kneifl, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Drew Reinhardt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Aurora wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-2 defeat against Adams Central on the 25th. As for Wayne, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy on the 25th.
