Baseball Game Preview: Tolland Eagles vs. Conard Red Wolves

The Tolland Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Conard Red Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Tolland took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Middletown.

Chase Anderson tossed a big game, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Schwarz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Conard gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Edwin O. Smith 5-4.

Tolland's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Conard, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
