Springwood faced Southern Prep Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats took a 32-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers. The game was a 12-12 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Springwood lost, don't look at Tucker Sides. Despite the final result, he rushed for 56 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Sides also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Wildcats are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise. Springwood also got a significant boost from Adam Baltes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 112 yards.

Southern Prep Academy found their leader in sophomore Brayden Pace, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 39 yards. Braden Evans was another key rusher, rushing for 61 yards and one TD.
