Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Fleming Colonels
The Freeman Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fleming Colonels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freeman has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 169 points over their last four matchups.
Freeman had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They managed a 46-41 victory over Hermitage on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Freeman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Butter Stephenson led the charge by rushing for 227 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Jadyn Reece was another key contributor, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Fleming waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Patrick Henry by a score of 23-16.
Freeman pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.7 points per game. As for Fleming, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
