Volleyball Game Preview: Concordia Lutheran Crusaders vs. St. Michael's Warriors

Concordia Lutheran is on a five-game streak of home wins, while St. Michael is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Crusaders will welcome the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Last Saturday, Concordia Lutheran made easy work of TMI-Episcopal and carried off a 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Michael's had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Tigers.

While St. Michael's might've won, it sure wasn't easy: St. Agnes Academy scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-22, 25-22.

Concordia Lutheran better keep an eye on Frida Hernandez. She was instrumental in St. Michael's win, getting 19 digs and one assist. Hernandez has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more digs the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Savannah Jerman, who had 15 digs.

Concordia Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 30-16. As for St. Michael's, their win bumped their record up to 35-12-1.

Concordia Lutheran was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Michael's in their previous meeting back in August of 2018, winning 2-0. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
