Softball Recap: Cedar Park Christian Starts off Right with Win over Sammamish

Cedar Park Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sammamish RedHawks a 16-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the RedHawks: they've now won three in a row.

Shelby Southard and Gianna Charlton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Southard struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Charlton tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Southard went 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Charlton scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Adelaide Foster was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Charlton, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Park Christian will take on Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sammamish, they will host Interlake at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
