Softball Recap: Bellevue Comes Up Short

Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Hazen Highlanders, falling 20-13. Even if the Wolverines couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Bellevue got a massive performance out of Nora Nielsen, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Nielsen launched this season. Leia Morales was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Hazen, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6.

Coming up, Bellevue will venture away from home to take on Mount Si at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for Hazen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sammamish at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The RedHawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Highlanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
