Baseball Recap: Richmond Heights Comes Up Short

Richmond Heights extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 16-3 to the Maple Heights Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 19-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Jevin Lewis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Maple Heights, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

On Maple Heights' side, the team relied heavily on Marvin Wolfe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Wolfe continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Moore, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond Heights will welcome Garfield Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Maple Heights, they will host Bedford at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
