Basketball Recap: McKenzie Tigers vs. Brantley Bulldogs
McKenzie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Brantley Bulldogs, falling 53-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-23 last Tuesday.
Leading Brantley to victory were Myia Mount and Alex Grimes. Mount posted six points along with 17 rebounds and five steals, while Grimes went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Mount is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Dezirae Stevens was another key player, going 7 for 15 en route to 15 points and eight boards.
McKenzie's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Brantley, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
When McKenzie and Brantley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McKenzie will try to stop Elba's four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Brantley will square off against Georgiana and their three-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
