Softball Recap: Baker County Wins Going Away Against Middleburg

Baker County barely beat Middleburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Broncos on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won three in a row.

Rylee Walker looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Baleigh Shields was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Masyn Barlow also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Baker County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Baker County's win bumped their record up to 14-4-1. As for Middleburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-7.

Coming up, Baker County will host West Nassau at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.3, the Warriors 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Middleburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
