North Forney extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lake Ridge Eagles 55-28. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Eagles are ranked 242nd).
North Forney was led to victory by Legend Bey and Cordai Woodard. Bey rushed for 181 yards and four scores on only ten carries, while Woodard rushed for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. Bey really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: North Forney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 463 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 215 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Ridge fell to 3-1. The loss was their first of the season.
DeShawn Edwards and Jaiden Cotton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Edwards rushed for 145 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while Cotton rushed for 121 yards and a pair of scores. Edwards' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 142 rushing yards.
North Forney wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 35-16 victory against Forney on the 26th. As for Lake Ridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 828 yards in their previous games.
