Baseball Recap: Fort Knox Comes Up Short

Fort Knox extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-16 in the process. They fell 5-1 to the Bardstown Tigers. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Eli Ortega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits.

As for Bardstown, their record is now 3-15-1. That four run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Bardstown's side, Brazen Harman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Harman a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Lucas Kiser was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Landen Snellen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Knox will head out to face off against Thomas Nelson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Bardstown, they are taking a road trip to take on North Hardin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
