Recap: Wabash Apaches vs. Eastbrook Panthers

It was a good run, but the Wabash Apaches unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Eastbrook, falling 83-36. Wabash was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-15.

Wabash lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kaitlynn Honeycutt, who scored 11 points along with five steals. The contest was Honeycutt's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kierra Wilson, who scored 16 points.

Eastbrook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Bustos out in front who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sophia Morrison was another key contributor, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 2 assists.

Wabash's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Eastbrook, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wabash will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Manchester at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Manchester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Eastbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Eastbrook is ranked 43rd).
