Soccer Game Preview: Fort Lauderdale vs. Piper

The Fort Lauderdale Flying L will venture away from home to square off against the Piper Bengals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Piper will be up against a hot Fort Lauderdale team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Flying L's defense stepped up to hand Taravella an 8-0 shutout on Wednesday. That's two games straight that Fort Lauderdale have won by exactly eight goals.

Their offense was hitting Taravella from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Damaris Villatoro led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Piper got the win against Hallandale on Thursday by a conclusive 6-2. The win continues a trend for Piper in their matchups with Hallandale: they've now won six in a row.

Piper's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Fort Lauderdale, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Fort Lauderdale came up short against Piper when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Flying L's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
