Basketball Preview: Chicago University Maroons vs. Francis W. Parker Colonels

The Chicago University Maroons just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Francis W. Parker Colonels at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Chicago University and 11 for the Colonels.

On Monday, things could have been worse for Chicago University, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-38 loss to the Hilltoppers.

Meanwhile, Francis W. Parker came up short against the Raiders on Tuesday and fell 56-48.

Despite the defeat, Francis W. Parker had strong showings from Miles Johnson, who scored 18 points along with four steals, and Connor Elligan, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Quentin Stauber, who scored four points along with four steals.

Chicago University dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Francis W. Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Things could have been worse for Chicago University, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to the Colonels in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Chicago University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
