Soccer Game Preview: Glen Allen vs. Matoaca

The Glen Allen Jaguars will challenge the Matoaca Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Glen Allen's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Glen Allen duked it out with Deep Run on Friday. The Jaguars lost 4-0 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Glen Allen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Deep Run are ranked 98th).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Matoaca was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Meadowbrook could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Matoaca's goal came courtesy of Devin Cooper, which was the first he's scored this season.

Matoaca's draw makes their record 7-3-1 this season. As for Glen Allen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9-1.

Glen Allen skirted past Matoaca 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
