Baseball Recap: Zimmerman Comes Up Short

Zimmerman extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the Big Lake Hornets, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.

Carter Milless was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Seth Cochran was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Big Lake, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Big Lake's side, Caleb Martin was incredible, firing off two home runs, four stolen bases, and six RBI while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, Martin is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Goedker, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zimmerman will face off against Pine City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Big Lake, they will square off against North Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
