Volleyball Recap: Oak Ridge's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Oak Ridge lost against Leopold back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Blue Jays came up short against the Wildcats, falling 3-0. The Blue Jays' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16, 25-17.

Kaelyn Deckerd paced Oak Ridge's offense, picking up 13 kills. Deckerd got some help from Kenadie Ward and her 24 assists.

Malia VanderMierden was a one-woman wrecking crew For Leopold. as she had 24 digs and two assists. That's the most digs VanderMierden has posted since back in September of 2024.

Oak Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6-1. As for Leopold, they pushed their record up to 25-5-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Oak Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Marquand-Zion on the 14th. As for Leopold, they will face off against St. Vincent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
