Baseball Recap: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Comes Up Short

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 12-10 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Cathedral Fighting Irish. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered since April 22nd.

As for Cathedral, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For Cathedral's part, they got a great performance from Landon Hughes as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hughes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eli Bennett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Cameron Koers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and Cathedral should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Trojans will take on Bethesda Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (113 vs. 305). Meanwhile, Cathedral (ranked 24th) will meet Covenant Christian (ranked 135th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
