Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tamari Shepherd and Alverez Smith Lead Mauldin to Victory

Mauldin won the last time they faced T.L. Hanna and things went their way on Friday too. The Mauldin Mavericks managed a 65-61 win over the T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets.

Leading Mauldin to victory were Alverez Smith and Tamari Shepherd. Smith went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Shepherd posted eight points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Shaw, who put up seven points.

Mauldin pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for T.L. Hanna, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-5.

Mauldin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-44 defeat against Laurens on the 4th. As for T.L. Hanna, they will welcome Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully T.L. Hanna likes a good challenge.
