Basketball Recap: Concord Yellowjackets vs. Springport Spartans
After losing to Springport the last time they met, Concord decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Concord Yellowjackets walked away with a 56-47 win over the Springport Spartans on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.
Leading Concord to victory were Jett Smith and Darrell Dean Jr.. Smith went 7-for-15 to rack up 22 points and five steals, while Dean Jr. went 6-for-8 on his way to 16 points and six steals. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Connor Stevens, who earned eight points in addition to ten rebounds and five steals.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gibson Overweg, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points along with five boards and three steals. Overweg is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games he's played. Tucker Wiginton was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Concord's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
