Basketball Recap: Avalon Extends Winning Streak to Four

Avalon had won three straight games and Jordan Fox did his part to make it four on Thursday. The Avalon Black Knights took their game with ease, bagging an 82-46 victory over Calverton thanks in part to Fox, who went 10 of 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two).

Another player making a difference was Messiah Manning, who posted six points along with five assists and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Avalon's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 4-2 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

Avalon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Calverton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Avalon has already played their next contest, a 77-69 win against Lanham Christian on the 1st. As for Calverton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-36 loss against Takoma Academy on the 3rd.
