Volleyball Recap: The Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After flying high against Greeley West on Saturday, The Academy came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain View Mountain Lions on Saturday.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Mountain View scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23.

Ava Gallegos paced The Academy's offense, picking up 19 kills. Gallegos got some help from Olivia Luxner and her 31 assists. Megan Duchlinski controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mountain View, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

The Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on DSST: Montview at 6:00 p.m. on September 9. As for Mountain View, they will head out on the road to challenge Timnath at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions are facing the Cubs at the right time seeing as the Cubs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
