Volleyball Recap: Emma Russell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sherman over St. Joseph Central

Sherman was the 3-0 winner over St. Joseph Central when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tide fell just short of the Irish by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Tide have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Several Tide players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Russell, who had nine digs and two aces. Russell has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 18 times she's played. Peyton Foster was another key player, getting 12 digs and two assists.

Sherman's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for St. Joseph Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Sherman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Logan on the 30th. As for St. Joseph Central, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Tolsia on the 30th.
