Basketball Recap: Crested Butte Takes a Loss

Crested Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The match between them and the Cotopaxi Pirates didn't end well, with the Crested Butte Titans falling 40-25. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 39-30 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Crested Butte lost, don't look at Molly Miller. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points along with seven boards and four steals. That was a full 52% of Crested Butte's points, marking the third time in a row Miller has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Cotopaxi got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayden Eggleston out in front who put up 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Eggleston's fifth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Teter, who earned eight points along with eight boards and six blocks.

Crested Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Cotopaxi, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Crested Butte has already played their next matchup (against Lake County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Cotopaxi, they have already played their next contest, a 31-15 victory against Custer County on the 19th.
