Basketball Recap: Pittsfield Panthers vs. Newmarket Mules

The Pittsfield Panthers lost against the Newmarket Mules last Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between Pittsfield and the Mules wasn't particularly close, with the Panthers falling 60-41. Pittsfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Pelletier, who scored 14 points. That was a full 34.1% of Pittsfield's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Rivera, who scored 13 points.

Pittsfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Newmarket, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Pittsfield will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Hampshire (Nute is ranked 83rd, while the Panthers are ranked 86th). As for Newmarket, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Derryfield is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
