Softball Game Preview: Bishop Hartley Hawks vs. Upper Arlington Golden Bears

The Bishop Hartley Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Upper Arlington Golden Bears at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Bishop Hartley duked it out with Bishop Watterson on Monday. The Hawks walked away with a 13-8 win over the Eagles. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jasmine Wooten made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Wooten was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Bailey, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anaya Bumpus, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Bishop Hartley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Watterson only managed ten hits.

Meanwhile, Upper Arlington came up short against Hilliard Davidson on Monday and fell 17-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (ten), the Golden Bears still had to take the loss.

Bishop Hartley's record now sits at 12-3. As for Upper Arlington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.

Bishop Hartley suffered a grim 11-2 defeat to Upper Arlington in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
