After a string of five wins, the Mary Persons Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Coffee 60-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mary Persons' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Shannon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hajar Baldwin-Toles, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Mary Persons' defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Coffee, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Mary Persons and Tattnall Square Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Tattnall Square Academy is ranked 148th, while Mary Persons is ranked 140th).
