Basketball Recap: Legacy Academy Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Legacy Academy Silverbacks were beaten by the Del Norte Knights 85-50.

Despite the loss, Legacy Academy still got an impressive performance from Daniel Tavarez, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Baca, who posted eight points.

Del Norte got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cain Bren out in front who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points and three steals. Gavin Gomez was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 12 points.

Legacy Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Del Norte, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mesilla Valley Christian School at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Del Norte will take on West Mesa in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
