Basketball Recap: Sterling Falls Short of Randle in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sterling can now relate to. They were dealt a 78-31 defeat at the hands of the Randle Lions on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1165th, while the Lions are ranked 513th).

Despite the loss, Sterling still got an impressive performance from Destiny Lewis, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 21 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Lewis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Morrow, who posted six points and 12 boards.

Randle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alaysia Cook, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 18 points along with seven steals and six assists. Kurynn McNeill was another key player, putting up 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Randle, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-12.

Sterling does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Randle, they have already played their next contest, a 45-44 defeat against Pflugerville on the 13th.
