Baseball Recap: Woods Cross Drops Season-High Score on Bonneville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woods Cross). Everything went their way against the Bonneville Lakers on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Paxton Healy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Max Moffat was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Woods Cross' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Beau Blackwell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Woods Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Woods Cross is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Woods Cross will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
