Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Green Level Gators
Apex has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Green Level Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Apex is ranked 252nd, while Green Level is ranked 244th).
Last Friday, Apex didn't have too much trouble with Pinecrest at home as they won 58-43.
Isabella Pease continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. Analiza Whittlesey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Green Level had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 49-39 win over Athens Drive on Friday. The win was just what Green Level needed coming off of a 57-32 defeat in their prior game.
Green Level's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Stella Eckhart, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals, and Deana Prasad, who scored 14 points. The game was Prasad's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Barber, who scored 9 points.
Apex's victory bumped their season record to 3-1 while Pinecrest's loss dropped theirs to 0-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Apex have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 34.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Green Level, though, as they've only nailed 30.7% of theirs this season. Given Apex's sizeable advantage in that area, Green Level will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Apex came up short against Green Level in their previous matchup back in January, falling 44-36. Thankfully for Apex, Audrey Ericksen (who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
